SKILL DEVELOPMENT INFORMATION
The Marquette Junior Hockey Corporation Skill Development Program is a “learn to skate” and 'learn to play hockey" program designed by USA Hockey to be the first contact between your child and the sport of hockey.
The program at Lakeview Arena and runs from early October through end of February.
The Skill Development Program is for boys and girls of all ages and is designed for beginning hockey players. The "learn to skate" portion will focus on an introduction to basic skating skills which will take place on Mondays. On Saturdays the kids will get to learn some of the skills they will need to play hockey.
A stick and jersey will be provided to keep for all participants!
Mandatory Equipment for Skill Development Programs:
- Hockey Helmet
- Breezers (hockey pants)
- Gloves
- Elbow & Shin Pads
- Skates
- Neck Guard
WHAT PARENTS NEED TO DO TO GO ON THE ICE:
Parents - before you go on the ice with your child, you must first talk to the skill development director & then complete the following:
Register as a Coach with USA Hockey

Complete SafeSport certification

Submit a background check

Submit your information once registered to the MJH office in person or by email to MJHdirector@mqthockey.org
You must also wear hockey skates (no figure skates) and a hockey helmet (not a bike helmet).
